Have you heard of the Archetype diet?

What the heck is an archetype? In the most lamen terms, it is a description of your blueprint for your thoughts and behaviors. I heard about this on a podcast I was listening to and need to find out more information. I went to Dana James's website to take the quiz. She also has a book all about your Archetype. I did not order the book yet but am very tempted to do so.

This is not an ad or a sponsorship, I just truly find this interesting and love sharing all this different information with you guys. I wish I had found all this information years ago and all in one place. Sharing is caring unless it is germs!

You can take a quiz to find out which type you are and which foods would best suit your personality type. The quiz is based on how you see and feel about yourself, like what brings you self-worth.

I was interested to see what this was all about and how my personality affected my eating. See if there are areas I could improve on or notice when I am under stress that I may be making quick decisions that could be causing some issues for me.

I came out as an Ethereal. Here is the description I got from the quiz I took.

"You are feminine, intuitive, expressive, and enchanting. You appear to float through life. Your intuition is your guiding compass. You believe in the harmony of the universe, and conflict is very distressing for you. As you are highly sensitive, you can feel overwhelmed in the presence of too many people. You can find yourself retreating from society to protect yourself from being pummeled by life's ups and downs. When you don't understand your innate sensitivity, you can numb yourself with food, alcohol, or drugs. You tend to have a light frame with elongated muscles. When you gain weight, it appears as "skinny fat." You tend to be low in estrogen, decreasing your libido and mood. Your skin and hair are often dry. Digestive issues are common when your creative expression is compressed."

Well, now that sounds like me, and my family agreed. Dana James may be on to something here.

So..... according to my type, I do better to have my carbs in the AM. It keeps me grounded throughout the day. I do better, eating lots of vegetables and lean meats. I should listen to my body and give it what it asks for.

I have already started adding in so much more productive and eating way fewer animal proteins for a couple months now. Reading how I should be eating according to my archetype just grounded that decision more. When I do eat this way, I do feel great.

Regarding vegetables and my digestion issues, I should eat cooked vegetables when feeling scattered and raw vegetables when feeling grounded. So when I feel out of balance, it is harder for me to digest raw foods, so I should eat cooked ones as they are easier to digest and break down.

I also tend to reach for food or alcohol to numb my feelings when overwhelmed. Knowing this, I can incorporate healthier options to deal with these emotions when I want to numb those feelings. I can do more meditation, yoga, healthy food options, or journaling. All these things bring me peace when I am feeling off-kilter.

Reading this section really hit me hard. I have been feeling off lately and reaching for those cocktails more than normal. I also noticed how crappy I feel after having them. Not just a hangover, brain fog, sluggishness, and anxiety. I will write a whole post on this to share what I am trying out and some mocktail recipes.

I will start incorporating these habits into my lifestyle to help keep me grounded and feeling my best. Let me know what type you are and if this resonates with you. You can drop a comment below, follow the wellness blondie on Facebook, or email me. After taking the quiz will you try to incorporate some of the practices for your type?
