Food Inspiration
I have been scrolling social media more these days in search of recipe ideas. With all the dietary changes I have been required to make I feel at a loss as to what I can make for meals.
I know what foods I can eat and what I need to stay away from, but combining them into a meal has been rather difficult. When my husband wanted to do the Keto lifestyle I was very resistant but after time and doing lots of research I found tons of recipes that I could make that were delicious and the whole family enjoyed.
I was able to take my time transitioning into that lifestyle. Because of that, it was much easier for me to make that transition.
I did Keto for a year and a half and at that time it worked for me. I felt more energetic and less hungry, my weight was in good standing and I felt confident in my skin.
With the extreme restrictions of this lifestyle and all the previous diets, I had tried I destroyed my gut microbiome. After a year and a half even eating Keto-approved foods would make me bloat, give me an upset stomach, gas, and diarrhea, plus my sleep started declining as well as my energy levels.
This change does not have to be immediate even though I am feeling it needs to be. The things that I have intolerances or allergies to I need to cut out. I can slowly introduce other foods that I have not eaten in almost two years. When I found out I needed to make this change I overdid the reintroductions and felt worse before starting to feel better.
I have slowed down the reintroductions and have reached out to Pinterest, social media, and restaurants for inspiration. I have even contemplated signing up for one of those food delivery services where you get all the meals pre-portioned and within your specific dietary needs or wants. Unfortunately, this is not within my budget, so the research continues.
Looking back on my life nothing has come easy to me, even if others see it differently. But with struggle comes growth and knowledge. Before I get too far off track back to the recipe finding.
During my vacation to the UP recently we ate out at a ton of restaurants. They had so many gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options on all their menus. I did not have to read through the entire menu to find something or ask the server if they had gluten-free bread or noodles. I was amazed at how progressive each place was regarding people's dietary needs.
With such amazing options to choose from I had no fear of food while on vacation. It was inspiring and exactly what I needed to get a good kick start to creating my own recipes.
After getting home I had to try making all the dishes I ate as well as some of the dishes I was inspired by on the menus. My entire family liked every single dish I made. I will be posting the recipes very soon. Because they are absolutely amazing!!
This is just the beginning of my journey and find sharing with you inspiring. I have lots to learn and even more to share. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
